Our RPP conferences on recombinant protein production are back again after four long years of interruption. These conferences are organised under auspices of the EFB Microbial Biotechnology Division.
They address topics that are instrumental in meeting many societal needs, especially the production of food, biopharmaceuticals and biobased chemicals. Since there is a continuous need for new production platforms that deliver higher quality protein products in more sustainable ‘greener’ ways, the RPP conferences address the challenges that need to be overcome. They offer comprehensive overviews of innovative solutions in recombinant protein production across different cell factories, from microbes to higher eukaryotes.
We are happy to announce that the online registration is now open.
Register online before 15 July 2023 to receive the early bird registration rate.
Jan Maarten van Dijl and Pau Ferrer, Co-chairs

Workshop: Soil Health - From Practical Issues to Indicators
The European Healthy Soils Conference is delighted to welcome the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and the Bundesamt für Umwelt (BAFU), to our workshop committee.
As part of the conference, FAO and BAFU will co-host a workshop on key indicators of soil health. The workshop will feature input talks to set the table, followed by an interactive discussion where participants can share challenges, insights and opportunities.
The workshop will address questions such as:
- What are the requirements for chemical, physical and biologics parameters?
- What methods, tools and indicators need to be developed?
- How do we put indicators into practice?
Register by 31 May 2023 to benefit from the early-bird rate and participate in this exciting workshop!

CONSULTATION
The EFB Division on Biobased Materials has launched a consultation aimed at formulating some guidelines for the experimental protocols of scientific articles dealing with biobased materials and polymers. This field of research is rapidly evolving and there is a lack of widely recognized standards, benchmarks and definitions. You can help fill these gaps by highlighting unclear issues still present in the scientific literature and proposing solutions. Please complete this FORM by 28 May 2023. The resulting document will be shared with all contributors and its dissemination will be discussed during an event scheduled for next fall.
