Invited speakers announced for the Food Biotechnology Conference 2026 in Sion


The invited speakers for the Food Biotechnology Conference 2026 have been confirmed. The event will take place on 8–9 September 2026 in Sion, Switzerland, and will bring together leading experts from academia and industry to discuss the latest advances in food biotechnology. Organized by the Plant, Agriculture and Food Division of the European Federation of Biotechnology (EFB), the conference will be hosted at the HES-SO Valais in the heart of the Swiss Alps.

The programme features the following invited speakers:

  • Thomas Brück – Technical University of Munich (TUM), Germany
  • Fabian Wahl – Agroscope, Switzerland
  • Laurent Falquet – University of Fribourg, Switzerland
  • Fatma Boukid – ClonBio Group, Ireland
  • Andrew Lamm – University of Technology, Jamaica
  • Lucia Witasari – Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia
  • Kim Mishra – HES-SO Valais / Planted Foods AG, Switzerland
  • Mahmoud Masri – Green Science Technologies (GST), Germany
  • Mpoi Hilpert – University of Basel, Switzerland
  • Lucas Grob – Swiss Food Research, Switzerland



The conference will cover key areas of food biotechnology, including sustainable food ingredients, precision fermentation, microbiome-active foods, enabling technologies, and the societal and regulatory aspects of food innovation.

Registration and abstract submission are now open. Participants can submit abstracts for short talks, flash poster presentations, and poster presentations.
