The European Federation of Biotechnology (EFB) brought together its Executive Board and General Assembly in Antwerp, Belgium, on 28 June 2026, alongside the European Congress on Biotechnology (ECB2026).
The meetings provided an opportunity to review the Federation’s activities, discuss strategic priorities and look ahead to the next stage of EFB’s development.
New leadership appointments
A key outcome of the General Assembly was the appointment of Paola Branduardi as EFB Vice-President and Ivo Frébort as Treasurer.
The General Assembly also confirmed the current Executive Board membership and began preparations for the election of new Board members whose terms will start in January 2027.
Strengthening the Federation
The meetings highlighted the contribution of EFB’s Divisions and Regional Branch Offices, which play a central role in connecting researchers and professionals across different areas of biotechnology.
Looking ahead, the EFB will continue to focus on growing its membership, engaging the next generation of biotechnology professionals, improving diversity and supporting new collaborations across the European biotechnology community.
