EFB Executive Board meeting in Barcelona

On 1 February, the EFB Executive Board convened in Barcelona for its first meeting of the year, with some members joining remotely. This meeting was the first session chaired by our newly appointed President, Prof. Francesc Gòdia.

The agenda focused on setting the strategic direction for the upcoming months, with particular attention given to the new edition of the European Congress on Biotechnology ECB2026 (venue and dates to be announced soon).

Additionally, the EFB Divisions and Regional Branch Offices presented an overview of their key activities from the previous year. They also outlined their plans for 2025, including the organization of the following meetings:

• Green Deal Biotechnology conference, 26-28 May 2025 in Aveiro, Portugal, organized by the EFB Environmental Biotechnology Division
• Designer Biology 2025, 29-31 July 2025 in Newcastle, United Kingdom, organized by the EFB Bioprocessing and Bioengineering & EFB Biobased Materials Divisions
• 7th edition of the Green for Good G4G conference, 1-4 September 2025 in Olomouc, Czech Republic, organized by the EFB Plant, Agriculture, and Food Biotechnology Division
• 12th Conference on Recombinant Protein Production, 7 - 9 October 2025 in Ulm/Neu-Ulm, Germany, organized by the EFB Microbial Biotechnology Division
