Designer Biology ’25: From Proteins and Cells to Materials

We are excited to announce the Designer Biology ’25 meeting, the 5th edition of this event, co-organized by the EFB Bioengineering and Bioprocessing Division and the EFB Biobased Materials Division. The conference will take place from 29-31 July 2025 in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK., at Newcastle University’s Helix campus.

  • Topics: Bioengineering, synthetic biology, biomaterials (protein engineering, cell manipulation, functionalized materials…)
  • Keynote Speakers: Pamela Silver, Broad Institute (USA) and Martin Fussenegger, ETH Zurich (CH)
  • Format: Keynote talks, presentations from early-career researchers, interactive poster sessions
  • Venue: Frederick Douglass Centre with views of St James’ Park
