Sion is the capital of the canton of Valais. The small town is sunny and famous for its cathedral and the towers of the Tourbillon and Valeria castles that rise into the sky. Sion is also not far from ski resorts such as Verbier or Crans Montana.
With its narrow streets that climb towards castles and museums, the medieval old town is one of the best preserved in Switzerland. One of the liveliest too, with its dozens of shops, shopping centres, restaurants and terraces where you can enjoy the sun all year round.
Sion is located in the middle of one of the most important wine-growing regions in Switzerland. Fendant, the region's white wine in particular is well known.
