Statistical mixture designs for media development with agro-industrial residues – Supporting the circular bioeconomy
We invite you to read EFB Bioeconomy Journal’s most recently published article (open access), by Nicolas Maguire, Tim Kuhmann, Doreen Gerlach, Rong Fan and Peter Czermak.
Nutrient-rich side streams can be used in fermentation media to produce biomaterials, biofuels and other high-value products, contributing to the circular bioeconomy.
However, the efficient valorization of side streams requires media optimized for the fermentation organism and the desired product. In an exemplary process, the authors investigated statistical mixture designs for the development of a medium containing food-grade agro-industrial residues.
